AB InBev Efes Brewing Company localized production of imported brands Spaten, Franziskaner, Leffe Blonde and Brune in Russia. The reasons for localization were "logistical difficulties" and the desire to preserve the range of popular beer brands in Russia.
In April, AB InBev was planning to sell its beer business in Russia, which would have resulted in a $1.1 billion profit write-down.
