Austrian company Borealis owns fertilizer plants in the center of important crop-growing regions in Austria and France

One of the world's leading mineral fertilizer producers, Russia-based EuroChem Group AG (EuroChem), entered into exclusive negotiations to acquire Borealis' nitrogen business following a binding offer.

Borealis operates more than 50 distribution centers throughout Europe and sells approximately 4 million tons of its products (including about 0.8 million tons of liquid technical nitrogen and approximately 0.15 million tons of melamine) annually in Western, Central and Southeastern Europe through the Borealis L.A.T. distribution network. The company is one of Europe's leading fertilizer producers.

If the deal goes through, EuroChem will take over Borealis' five production facilities in Europe, as well as its entire sales and distribution network.

The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and related closing price adjustments. The transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2022.
