Growing Passion: From Royalty Cheques to Community Change

When Zach Wilson received his first royalty cheque, something clicked. A digital marketing consultant and songwriter, Zach realized he needed to better understand financial management. This epiphany led him to explore how he could use his skills and network to benefit his home community in Bermuda. As stated in Royal Gazette | Bermuda, his unique background in music and marketing played a crucial role in this journey.

The Birth of Lumina Festival

A Helping Hand: With guidance from friends in finance, Zach transformed his personal quest into a community mission: the Lumina Festival. His goal was simple — to make financial literacy accessible and engaging, especially for the Black community. The Dockyard event featured prominent speakers from finance and entrepreneurship, bringing new perspectives to attendees. Key personalities included Curtis Dickinson, Dulani Williams, and Mandela Fubler.

A Vision for Empowerment

Inspiring Future Generations: Zach’s commitment was supported by Eugene Dean, a well-known advocate for grassroots change. Wilson’s focus on empowering youth and minorities through financial education struck a chord, making him a community hero. By drawing inspiration from events like Invest Fest in Atlanta, he sought to create an educational experience that was fun, cultural, and impactful.

Reaching for New Heights

Continuous Growth: The overwhelming response from the 500 attendees was a testament to the event’s success. Many reached out to brokers and life insurance companies post-festival, a step uncommon in their communities. Plans for the next Lumina Festival are underway, with expanded programs and new sponsors joining the cause. It’s set to be an annual highlight, continuing to foster financial empowerment.

The Future of Lumina

Setting the Stage: Encouraged by the positive feedback, Zach is committed to growing Lumina. The festival will return with added features, promising more insights and inspiration. As Bermuda embraces financial literacy, Zach’s vision will undoubtedly shape a future where everyone knows how to make their money work for them.
