According to Birol, a tightening LNG market and shrinking oil supplies from major exporters have put the world in the midst of an energy crisis.
Increased LNG imports to Europe amid the Ukraine crisis and a projected rebound in China's appetite will only make the situation worse. Only 20 billion cubic meters of new LNG capacity will enter the market next year, and that will probably not be enough.
