The S&P 500 lost 21% in the first half of 1970. At that time there were events in the economy, including high inflation, to which the current economic conditions are being compared. In the last six months of that year, however, the index gained 27%.

According to Bloomberg, historically the dynamics of the index in the first half of the year has a negative correlation with the dynamics of the second half of the year. However, there are far fewer signals for a recovery in 2022 than in previous periods.
