The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank is considering providing Sri Lanka with $100 million in emergency assistance, the finance ministry said.
The statement said Sri Lanka has also asked the multilateral lender for foreign exchange liquidity support for state-owned banks.
Earlier we wrote that Sri Lanka is approaching a "series of defaults."
