This year saw 44 schools vying for the top spot in a rigorous battle spanning two months. Culminating in a heart-stopping finale on April 2, 2025, St Ignatius High School from Kigali emerged triumphant. Yet it was not only their victory but College du Christ Roi’s passionate pursuit that demonstrated the rigorous preparation and teamwork essential to such an event.
Beyond Trophies: The Greater Purpose
In an inspiring speech at the grand finale, Governor Soraya M. Hakuziyaremye emphasized that this challenge transcends mere accolades. “Financial literacy is empowerment,” she affirmed, “It’s about planting seeds of curiosity and ambition.” Governor Hakuziyaremye envisioned a future where today’s competitors might steer the nation’s economy as central bankers.
Championing Educators: Acknowledging the Backbone
Educators played a pivotal role, their dedication ensuring every student was equipped and ready to shine. Both participating schools were awarded laptops and monetary incentives to invest in government securities, demonstrating the practical application of knowledge gained. Minister of Education, Joseph Nsengimana, praised participants for their tenacity and insight. His words acknowledged the unseen victories within each question answered: “They’ve expanded their knowledge, gained insights into Rwanda’s economic framework, and grown in ways that matter.”

Amongst the excitement, Lauren Keza of St Ignatius shared stories of personal inspiration. “The BNR quiz challenge sparked my curiosity,” she said. “It deepened my desire to study economics, with hopes one day to contribute at BNR.”
