Chevron CEO Mike Wirth said there may never be a new refinery built in the United States.
"There hasn't been a refinery built in this country since the 1970s," Wirth said when asked about the prospects for adding new capacity in the Gulf of Mexico.
"Capacity is being added through investment in existing refineries," he explained.
