New York Governor Kathy Haukul announced 22 renewable energy power plant projects on Thursday. Most of them are solar panels. The construction is tied to plans for the state to reach zero emissions by 2040.

The projects should generate enough energy to serve 620,000 homes in New York City for at least 20 years. The projects are also expected to attract $2.7 billion in private investment and create more than 3,000 jobs.
