Healthcare startup Athelas managed to raise $132 million in investment and generate a valuation of $1.5 billion.

Athelas, a U.S. remote patient monitoring startup founded in 2016, said it has completed two investment rounds, which resulted in Athelas raising $132 million in investment and a valuation of $1.5 billion.

In a statement, Athelas specified that the round was led by investment firms General Catalyst, Tribe Capital and Sequoia Capital.

According to Bloomberg, the company has managed to multiply the number of patients over the past year thanks to the coronavirus epidemic: the number of patients is currently estimated at 20,000, which is 10 times higher than at the beginning of 2021.

Reportedly, Athelas' main product is the Athelas One device, which uses an Internet connection to transmit blood test results to healthcare providers.
