France's National Commission for Informatics and Liberty (CNIL) said that the legality of biometric data collection in the Worldcoin project "appears questionable".
The regulator has initiated an investigation into the project.
At the same time, the project's founder Sam Altman says that the technology is being adopted at a high rate. According to him, one person is verified every 8 seconds.
